By following this pregame ritual, you will decrease your chances of sustaining a connective tissue injury. By providing additional blood flow to your muscles, tendons and ligaments, warm-ups and stretching increases your body’s flexibility. Your lower body should be the focus of your stretching exercises.

Even if you are a great soccer player, it is important for you to keep practicing. Many people make the mistake of slacking off when they are good players. This is not good because you have to stay on top of your game. The minute you slip, others will take advantage of that.

Proper care and cleaning of your goalie gloves must be done. Soak the gloves in water that is warm. Add a little bit of soap and have it sit for an hour. Once they have soaked for an hour, rinse them off until the water is clear. Gently wring out the gloves and lay them in a flat spot to dry.

Practice using balls of smaller and different sizes. Kicking smaller balls around is something that can help you to develop a technique while making you handle regular balls better. Practice making goals and passing. After learning to manage a small ball, you will realize how much easier a larger ball is to control.

Practicing shooting and passing is really key to playing soccer. These skills can be worked on, either alone or in conjunction with a partner. To get some solo practice in, use a wall as your passing partner. One the ball has rebounded, regain control and then aim at a specific spot once more.
